10/31/2012 Black and Orange!

Ok, aside from being the colors of my Alma Mater, Valley High School, this is also the colors of one of my favorite animals: the Bengal Tiger.  I was going to do a Tiger manicure, but I got so frustrated, that I went in a different direction.

I did a glowing accent nail, but once again, it didn't glow well.  Must not have used enough glow paint.  :/

That said, I really do love these crackle nail polishes.  Simple but dramatic effect.  I know, easy way out, but I am so drained right now.  I need a bit of break...which of course you KNOW I won't get...being addicted to challenges!

So, there it is.  The last day.  Leave me a comment and let me know which day was your favorite!  Thank you every one who has been following and to my terrific fans.  Without you, there would be no reason for me to do this!  So THANK YOU!

Until next time...

10/30/2012 Graveyard! Spoooookkkyyyy...

OK, I have never really wandered through a graveyard at night.  Ok, maybe once...but I didn't really leave my car...I was with my boyfriend (now hubby) and we were trying to see our local glowing grave.  It is made of phosphorescent stone, he says, and if it has been sunny enough out and headlights shine on it, you can usually see it.

Unfortunately, I didn't see it. I would have loved to and I might try again some day...but I decided to base my manicure on that glowing grave.  So here we go...

They did glow, but not enough to get a good photo.  :/  But they turned out cute.

Come check out tomorrow's post!  That is the last day and the Black and Orange challenge.  I bet there will be some spectacular manis to draw inspiration from!

10/29/2012 Spiders!! ICK! WARNING!!

Ok, so my least favorite creature would have to be spiders.  Especially if they are ON me.  EEK!  But I can watch them from afar, spinning their webs in the twilight in summer...that is what will inspire my mani.  I am hoping to re-create a freshly spun web...though it might turn out to be more like a morning-after web...

OK, so I drew my inspiration for these nails from this photo.

Uber creepy to see these but I actually found them kinda pretty.  The reddish color I find quite attractive.  I had a bit of Arachnophobia as I was trying to find a good photo though...uggh!

Ok, so it was in the end, a fail...

I removed the "eyes" because they never dried.  They stayed putty like for over 2 hours.  So I scraped it off, literally, and repainted it.  This one below is my official entry.  I call in Spiderwoman.  :D    (I might try the spider eyes again, but not right now.)

SO, I turned a fail into something really pretty.  Kinda looks like a jelly sandwich, doesn't it?  That brazilian nail polish I got in my last big purchase has a really great glitter jelly base.  Guessing you will see more of this top coat in future entries.  It adds just the right amount of sparkle like sunlight is hitting the strands.

Come back tomorrow to see what else I can pull out of thin air!

0/26/2012 Witches!!

Well, I know what I did the first time I came face-to-face with witch inspired nails.  I went elegant.  I may go elegant this time...or I might try for something a bit more obscure...just gotta wait and see!!

Ok, so I went a little funky and fun this time...witch tights with two accent nails, meant to represent her boiling pot of magic/potion/brew.

Here's a closer photo:

Then I had one of the tights mess up, so I re-painted my ring finger with orange and overlaid it with OPI Silver crackle. Sweet!  Doesn't photo well, however.  The silver represents the magic inherent in witches.

Come back Monday to see what I have created!  Taking a break for the weekend!

10/25/2012 Ghosts! BOO!

I had several ideas for this one, but I finally picked out this one...

I wanted to try out this new Sally Girl Coconut polish.  It really does smell like...cocoa butter.

O.O

Still, I like the smell and hope to find others to try...no matter how odd they might be.  It is actually a blue-ish white tone...not a white like I expected...but it makes a great "see-through" ghost...esp with the eyes and mouths the same color as the background.  The background is Maybelline Color Show Twilight Rays.

Come back and see what I create for tomorrow!

10/24/2012 Candy!! I get a bellyache just thinking about it...

OK, still trying to work out a way to do eyeball candy. Alas, that failed.

Then I thought, well, if I can't make a good eyeball...then I'll try the black cats (a new Peep relation apparently).

If that is a bust, I will fall back on a fall staple (used to be just Easter when I was kid, but apparently no holiday is immune to the peeps bunny factory and it was inevitable that these would come.)

Swatches were my friend this round.  O.O  However, I did not swatch this one...odd...because I rarely ever go into a mani without practicing first. Maybe I am gaining an instinct?!  One can hope...

I think I managed to create something that looks like it could be a nail art peep...the shape isn't there, but the faces are...

I caught just enough sparkle to be like the fine sugar on the real peeps.  Not sure I quite nailed it, but not bad for an un-swatched, untested design/effect.

I used WnW Club Havana as the base...a near perfect match to a Peep in real life.  Then I used an SC black nail art brush and overlaid that with SH Disco Ball, VERY, VERY lightly.  SO, what do YOU think?

Come back tomorrow to see what I come up with!

10/23/2012 Vampire!! I vant to suck on your finger...

OK, I went with the only thing I could think of that would make an elegant vampire nail without drawing little vampires and fangs on my nails that I have seen so often.

I thought "I want vampire bites on my nails! Hmm...but that would be kinda silly, wouldn't it?" So I looked online for ideas...

After finding one on the internet, it no longer seemed so silly.  So I did my own take on the bloody vampire manicure.

I think it turned out really well.  I love the bloody manicure look...might not be the most exciting design, but it is totally appropriate for Halloween and Vampires.  :D

Come back tomorrow to see what I create!!
